Year 6 are currently going from strength to strength. Mrs F and I have been hugely impressed with the quality of work, effort and insightful contributions from the class this week. It is clear that the whole class are engaged in our current topic and are enjoying learning about refugees and migration. This involved some excellent drama work whereby the children portrayed the emotions of the characters in ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan, an excellent picture book that links to migration.
Whilst engaging brilliantly in their Linked Learning topic, the class have also continued to challenge themselves in maths and other areas of the curriculum. Moving on to percentages, Year 6 have made links with their recent learning in maths (fractions and decimals). In science, the children have worked in groups to investigate how shadows are caused and why they change size and position.
The week after next (week commencing 3/2/2020), Year 6 will complete their second (and final) Mock SATs week. The children are aware of this and do not need to worry or undertake any additional preparation. Everyone should be feeling confident and be looking forward to the challenge of improving their scores from the previous tests.
