Our Art border for this page was inspired by the artwork of

Giuseppe Arcimboldo and his fruit and vegetable faces.

This week we visited the Sea Life Centre to learn more about the different animals that live in our oceans and what their habitats are like. All the children were a credit to the school and we were very proud of how they behaved and how well they listened and took onboard all of the information! The highlights of the trip for the children was definitely the bus journey and the different animals they got to see. Some were even brave enough to touch a starfish in the rock pooling experience!

The children created a sea collage this week, we looked at the famous artist John Piper and some of his art work showing the coast and coastal animals. The children then painted their sea, created 2 sea creatures on foil and then cut out bits of paper and fabric to create the seaweed, seabed and coral. Finally they arranged their collage how they wanted it to look before sticking it all down.

Keeping with our 'Beach Odyssey' topic the children also wrote their own seaside tale based on 'Grandma Bird'.
